Oklahoma State clips Nebraska, 53-52

The Oklahoma State Cowboys kept their season alive with a 53-52 win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The Cowboys played stifling defense throughout the game, including on the final possession, when they didn’t allow Nebraska to even get off a shot.

Oklahoma State now sits at 19-12, which would look good except for their 6-10 record in the Big 12.

The Cowboys are likely going to have to run the table and win the Big 12 tournament to get an NCAA berth. ( Read More…)

Oklahoma State no match for Texas, 73-55

The Oklahoma State Cowboys didn’t have a chance against the Texas Longhorns in a 73-55 loss.

Oklahoma State never held a lead in the game and was already trailing by 11 points by halftime.

In fact, the game was only tied once. It was 2-2 before the Longhorns knocked down a three and took off running.

Head coach Travis Ford said his team simply dug themselves a hole and gave up way too many points in transition. ( Read More…)

Oklahoma State to keep two stars

The Oklahoma State Cowboys will return two of their biggest stars heading into the 2011 season.

Quarterback Brandon Weeden and wide receiver Justin Blackmon have both announced they will return to school.

While Weeden would not have been a top draft pick, Blackmon was expected to go near the middle of the first round.

Oklahoma State’s offense should be lethal again next season, and they could challenge for the Big 12 title. ( Read More…)

Oklahoma State rolls past Arizona, 36-10

The Oklahoma State Cowboys had way too much offensive firepower for the Arizona Wildcats in a 36-10 win in the Alamo Bowl.

The Cowboys wasted little time getting things going, putting two touchdown on the board in the first seven minutes.

Oklahoma State had just over 50 yards rushing, but it was through the air where they did all of their damage.

Wide receiver Justin Blackmon lead the way with nine catches for 117 yard and two touchdowns. ( Read More…)

Oklahoma State falls to Oklahoma, 47-41

The Oklahoma State Cowboys couldn’t keep up with the rival Oklahoma Sooners in a 47-41 defeat.

Oklahoma lead for much of the game until Oklahoma State tied things up with a touchdown in the third quarter.

The wild fourth quarter is where the game was ultimately decided, as the two teams combined to score 37 points.

OSU win at Bedlam could mean Big 12 South title

The great Oklahoma football showdown is being held in just five days, and it looks like the winner of the event could also walk away with the Big 12 South title.

Oklahoma State can’t keep up with Nebraska, 51-41

The Oklahoma State Cowboys explosive offense couldn’t keep up with the Nebraska Cornhuskers in a 51-41 loss.

The disappointing home loss is the first defeat of the season for Oklahoma State, ending any crazy hopes of a national championship run.

Oklahoma State’s defense clearly didn’t see anything on film from the Nebraska-Texas game to help them slow down the Cornhuskers’ offensive attack.

They allowed Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez to throw for 325 yards and five touchdowns. He also ran for 112 yards. ( Read More…)

Longhorns hold key to conference expansion

It is reported that the Texas Longhorns are going to decide whether the Big 12 stays together or breaks apart.

Texas is the most sought after team in conference expansion, and should they choose to leave the Big 12, it will be a domino effect.

Anderson declares for NBA Draft

Oklahoma State forward James Anderson has announced his intentions to enter the NBA Draft.

Anderson was one of the top scorers in the country in leading his team to the NCAA tournament.

A poor performance in the first round game let to the Cowboys’ ouster and questions about Anderson’s NBA potential.

Anderson said he was so disappointed in the way the season ended that he almost returned to school.

He is expected to go in the first round, but his pre-draft workouts will take on a large role in shaping where he is selected.

Cowboys stung by Georgia Tech in first round of NCAAs

By Bud L. Ellis

Oklahoma State’s stay in the NCAA Tournament came to an end thanks to a strong showing by Georgia Tech from the free-throw line.

Time and time again in Friday’s first-round NCAA contest in Milwaukee, the Cowboys sent the Yellow Jackets to the line. Tech delivered, hitting 24-of-25 from the stripe in sending Oklahoma State home for the season, 64-59.

Oklahoma State (22-11) held Tech to without a field goal for the final eight minutes. But the Cowboys couldn’t take advantage. James Anderson, third in the nation in scoring, scored just 11 points on 3-of-12 shooting. Obi Muonelo finished with only 10 points.

The Cowboys hit only 6-of-22 shots from 3-point range. That was enough of an opening for Tech to steal this one.

Oklahoma State finished the season with two straight losses.
