Cowboys stung by Georgia Tech in first round of NCAAs

By Bud L. Ellis

Oklahoma State’s stay in the NCAA Tournament came to an end thanks to a strong showing by Georgia Tech from the free-throw line.

Time and time again in Friday’s first-round NCAA contest in Milwaukee, the Cowboys sent the Yellow Jackets to the line. Tech delivered, hitting 24-of-25 from the stripe in sending Oklahoma State home for the season, 64-59.

Oklahoma State (22-11) held Tech to without a field goal for the final eight minutes. But the Cowboys couldn’t take advantage. James Anderson, third in the nation in scoring, scored just 11 points on 3-of-12 shooting. Obi Muonelo finished with only 10 points.

The Cowboys hit only 6-of-22 shots from 3-point range. That was enough of an opening for Tech to steal this one.

Oklahoma State finished the season with two straight losses.

Oklahoma State upsets Kansas, 85-77

The Oklahoma State Cowboys used a strong offensive performance to knock off the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks, 85-77.

The Cowboys lead nearly reached 20 at times, which forced the Jayhawks to start gambling to try to get back into the game.

James Anderson had another monster game, finishing with 27 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks.

The huge upset led to pandemonium on the court after the game as students rushed out of the stands and onto the floor.

You better believe that Oklahoma State is one of those teams that no one wants to see in their bracket come NCAA tournament time.
