Cowboys stung by Georgia Tech in first round of NCAAs
By Bud L. Ellis
Oklahoma State’s stay in the NCAA Tournament came to an end thanks to a strong showing by Georgia Tech from the free-throw line.
Time and time again in Friday’s first-round NCAA contest in Milwaukee, the Cowboys sent the Yellow Jackets to the line. Tech delivered, hitting 24-of-25 from the stripe in sending Oklahoma State home for the season, 64-59.
Oklahoma State (22-11) held Tech to without a field goal for the final eight minutes. But the Cowboys couldn’t take advantage. James Anderson, third in the nation in scoring, scored just 11 points on 3-of-12 shooting. Obi Muonelo finished with only 10 points.
The Cowboys hit only 6-of-22 shots from 3-point range. That was enough of an opening for Tech to steal this one.
Oklahoma State finished the season with two straight losses.
